Years of Service: 3 years

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Age: 20
Height: 6'3
Weight: 215 lbs
Personality: As a Marine, Marcus is known as a very reliable, firm, and sarcastic individual. He commands the Marines under his with respect and tries to get to know them on a more personal basis. He also tries to get to know Marines outside of his fireteam and build strong friendships, and is known to crack a few jokes or two on the Marine leadership or SOP. Overall, he is a good Marine with a side of slapstick humor. Oh, and he loves to recite lyrics to songs on his off time.
History: Marcus grew up in northern Tennessee to parents who were farmers. Due to his need to be at home to help his family with farming every year, it was decided by his parents' he was to be homeschooled. This meant that, aside from the children within proximity to the farm, he never really had too many friends. It was work and academics with his parents and nothing more than that.

During his adolescence, he began to become rebellious as all teenagers do at that stage in their life. He found a group of friends he enjoyed hanging with and would spend most of his days with them, doing normal things that teens did. His parents', however, wanted him to work on the farm as they needed him and were afraid by being away from their supervision, he would start doing drugs and committing other illegal activities.

So, Marcus was told by his father that he would be restricted to staying on the farm until the season was over. This, of course, came in conflict with Marcus's plans to hang with his friends. Naturally, he rebelled and when he discovered there was no out of the punishment he had been given, he found a loophole. Since he would be restricted to the confines of the farmland and because his parents' didn't want him leaving, he had his friends come to the farm.

They even, to the surprise of his parents', helped him with the farm work. By the end of the season, they had sold more goods than they had in ten years. So, Marcus was allowed to leave the farm again.

And then he discovered the Marine Corps.

One of his Marcus's friends, Josiah, had been talking about joining the military for quite some time. One day, while Marcus was taking a break from planting crops, Josiah told him that he was going to join the Marine Corps. Curious about this branch of service, Marcus decided to go with his friend to the "local" recruiting center (about five miles down the road) and speak to one of the recruiters.

Needless to say, he liked what he heard. Having almost been eighteen, Marcus went back and told his parents' the news. While his father was all for the decision, his mother wasn't happy. Until the day he left for boot camp, she told him that she would disown him if he joined the Marine Corps.

And then he arrived at Parris Island.

Boot camp was plenty tough for Marcus, but he strapped on the mentality that whatever didn't kill him would make him stronger. Because of this, he graduated at the top of his recruit platoon and received Private First Class out of boot. When Marcus arrived at the School of Infantry, originally for MCT, he heavily enjoyed the field work. So, for the first two years of his Marine Corps career, he served in Supply and Operations. Upon hitting his third year mark, he made a lateral move to 0311 and had to take a refresher course of infantry tactics and techniques.

Afterwards, he was shipped off to Afghanistan where he saw his first combat action since he had joined the Marine Corps. The experience changed him and the way he lived his life forever. He had a new respect for those who went overseas to serve. One that had been fostered after having served under fellow Marines who had fallen in the line of duty.

Later, as time progressed, just prior to his assignment to Hotel Company, Corporal Patterson became very cynical and at times, sarcastic. He had changed from the person he was when he signed his enlistment papers. Even he admitted his parents' would recognize him when he returned...
