MOS: 0302 Infantry Officer
Billet: Platoon Commander, Hotel Company
Years of Service: One month (since TBS graduation)

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Age: 24
Height: 6'1
Weight: 200 lbs
Personality: Michael is a very kind individual. He claims himself to be a gentleman and any of his friends can attest to the truth in his claim. He respects women and respects their independence. He even believes that the Marine Corps should allow women into the Combat Arms. He is also a man of great social etiquette, being very polite and tactful around friends and family. On the job, he is a by-the-book lieutenant who believes fully in the mission of the Marine Corps and the training it has provided him. His greatest wish to have the respect of the Marines under his command and he will go to any lengths to attain that respect.
History: Michael grew up in a small town in Georgia, to a small well-to-do family. His family could afford to give him the best schooling and living money could by, and he was happy with his life. His father, Mark, worked as a car factory engineer and his mother was a school teacher.

Due to his mothers' occupation, academics were never an issue with Michael. If he didn't understand something, his mother could easily help him figure out the problem. Because of his intelligence, he was often mocked by his peers as being a bookworm and a rather reclusive individual. He had friends, but not very man, and this led to him rarely going outside. Schooling was the most important thing in his life and he was to better himself with a good education.

This also meant he had little time for a real love life. During his teen years, he only had one girlfriend - and it turned out she was using him to make her ex-boyfriend jealous, so the relationship ended relatively quickly.

Upon graduating from high school and when Michael turned eighteen, he was admitted to the college of William & Mary in Virginia. It was there he strove to become an English Major, with much success in the venture. For Michael, his only dream in life was to become a school teacher like his mother. He felt there was no other calling in his life.

That is, until he made friends with a Marine Corps recruiter.

When Michael turned twenty-one, he performed the traditional ritual of going to a bar and getting wasted with his friends. Normally he wasn't a wild partier, but that night had been different. He had been studying for exams and had been really stressed over school, and he felt that this would be his vacation of sorts.

To say the least, he discovered he was a poor drunk and started a fight with a man in the bar. The man was much larger than Michael was, and so it was a no-brainer who would win. However, one of the patrons at the bar, a U.S. Marine Corps recruiter, Staff Sergeant Henry Nichols, helped him out of the fight.

The next night, after sobering up, Michael called and thanked the staff sergeant for helping him out of the bind. The two began talking and the well-to-do college student shooting for an English Major became hooked on the U.S. Marine Corps and what it stood for. After several long nights, Michael decided he wanted to be a Marine Officer.

Shortly after his graduation from William & Mary, Michael signed the contract to be commissioned in the Marine Corps. He was shipped off to OCS later that year.

Officer Candidate School tested Michael both physically and mentally. When he was a child, he had never been much of an issue in relation to discipline, so he was rarely ever yelled at. Being subjected to the grizzly nature of the enlisted Drill Instructors was a new experience for him and one that took him some time adjusting to.

However, by the fourth week he had gotten the hang of things and began to love the training he was being given. Throughout his training, he strove to be the best in the company. Unfortunately, he never achieved that title - but was recognized as one of the top ten candidates in his series.

The Basic School was the most exciting thing Michael had ever done in his life. Learning infantry and combat skills had been a real treat to him and he found he had a knack for controlled leadership. Each scenario he and the other officers were given, he tackled with relative ease. The instructors were constantly impressed with his performance and he received high marks for exempting traits commensurate with the expectations the Corps had in a Marine Officer.

Now, Second Lieutenant Michael Garber has been assigned to Hotel Company, 4th Battalion, 1st Regiment, as a fresh new platoon commander. He is nervous, but is determined to prove himself to the Marines under his command.
